Learn how to prevent problems from developing when you have a new dog or puppy. Prevent jumping, chewing, play-biting, and other behaviors that can become problems. Learn how to socialize your dog to other dogs, cats, and people. This is a good workshop for new dog owners, for those who are thinking of getting a dog, and for those who volunteer or work in animal protection and animal rescue.
Canine Learning for the Dog Owner
Learn how dogs understand and communicate, how to read their body language, and how touch can influence their behavior, and how touch can enhance the relationship you have with your dog. Prevent normal behaviors from turning into problems, such as jumping up on people, chewing furniture, and playing too roughly.
Canine Learning for Rescue and Shelter Workers
This workshop is for shelter workers and those involved in rescue work and adoptions. Learn how to acclimate dogs to other dogs in the shelter or foster environment. Ways to environmentally enrich the shelter setting will be addressed. How dogs learn, understand, and communicate will be discussed in relation to the shelter setting and foster care. Avoid giving harmful and ineffective training advice to adopters. Ways volunteers can help make dogs more adoptable will be explained.
Behavior Modification Techniques for Difficult-to-Handle Dogs
Learn how to modify behavior in dogs who are labeled as "difficult" to handle or teach; dogs who are labeled as "hyper," can't seem to settle down or relax, require a lot of "discipline," or who are lungey and reactive to other dogs. Understand how dogs learn so you can implement the best, most humane methods possible to teach these dogs. Learn how to remedy problems stemming from fear, aggression, or anxiety.
Children and Dogs
Parents can learn how to positively introduce and acclimate children and dogs to each other. Teach children how to prevent themselves from being bitten. Teach your child how to be dog-savvy. Learn techniques that can make touch-sensitive animals love touch and help them to overcome their fears of being handled.

Learn how massage can benefit animals by getting them accustomed to positive forms of therapeutic touch. This workshop is helpful for rescue workers and animal health practitioners, as well as dog trainers, behaviorists, and owners of timid and fearful animals. Understand and interpret dog and cat body language to ascertain whether or not your dog or cat likes your manner of touching or handling.
