CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Puppy Manners
(Dogs under 4 months old)

Puppies will learn behaviors on cue, such as attention, sit, down, coming when called, stay and to give or drop items. Issues such as hyperactivity, jumping, chewing, housetraining, and play-biting will be addressed. This class includes homework, handouts and a certificate of completion (for perfect attendance). Structured off-leash play is part of the curriculum.

Your puppy must have received his or her second Distemper vaccination to participate. Proof of vaccinations must be shown the first day of class. Do not bring your dog to the first class. It is for people only.

Basic Manners
(Dogs over 3 months old)

Basic Manners is a fun, reward-oriented class that teaches your dog behaviors on cue, such as attention, sit, down, stay, coming, loose-leash walking, and not jumping up on people. This class includes homework, handouts, and a certificate of completion (for perfect attendance). This can be a continuation of the Puppy Manners class. You can continue to work on your dog's socialization and training. Depending on the make up of the class, structured off-leash play is part of the curriculum.

For dogs over 6 months of age, proof of Rabies vaccination must be brought the first day of class. Your puppy must have received his or her second Distemper vaccination to participate. Do not bring your dog to the first class. It is for people only.

Tiny Manners
(Dogs under 20 pounds)

Training with a tiny twist! A beginner level course for dogs who weigh 20 pounds or less. Course covers foundation behaviors such as: attention, sit, down, stay, come and walking on leash. Dogs will be allowed to socialize at the end of each class.

Dogs must have proof of being up to date on vaccinations. Items needed: A 6 ft. nylon leash, body harness, Gentle Leader, front clip harness or flat fabric collar, tasty yummy treats. Do not bring your dog to the first class - it is for people only.

Growly Dogs

This course is specifically designed to teach you how to manage and treat your dog who is aggressive to other dogs on-leash. This class is not appropriate for dogs who only show aggression towards dogs off-leash, or who exhibit aggression toward people. Attendance to all classes is required. All family members are encouraged to attend.

Course prerequisites: Pre-screening and/or a behavioral consultation is necessary before acceptance to this class. A private lesson in leash-control is required.

Tiny Manners - Growly Dogs

This class is for little dogs (under 20 pounds) who are fearful of other dogs or have been traumatized by bigger dogs. These dogs are aggressive or reactive on-leash when other dogs are present.

Shy Dogs

This course is for dogs who are timid or shy around other dogs. They do not show aggression and instead refrain from interacting or avoid contact with other dogs. Some dogs may cower or retreat when around other dogs. Some dogs who show some mild reactivity to other dogs if cornered or overwhelmed on greetings may also be good for this class. Shy Dog will expose your dog to other dogs in a positive, friendly, and relaxing way. Socialization is a key part of this class. You will be able to teach your dog foundation behaviors, such as sit, down, come, attention, stay, and "go play."

Course prerequisites: No prior formal training is necessary. A private evaluation is required before entering this class.

Reactive Dogs on Leash

This workshop consists of three classes. You will learn how to work with your dog who may be reactive, overly excited, fearful, or unpredictable while on leash. You will learn how to hold and handle a leash so that you can work with your dog without making your dog more anxious or fearful in the process. Teach your dog how to interact with other dogs nicely or pass by those things that may create stress without reacting or falling apart. This class is not for dogs who are overly fearful, shy or timid. Shy, frightened or timid dogs should take a Shy Dog class.

You will need a 6ft. nylon leash, great doggy treats and a training bag for this class. The first class is without dogs. Bring your dog to the remaining two classes. Bringing your dog is optional. You can attend this workshop solo, without your pup.
